You've come to the right place IF ...

  • You think Mr T, Morpheus & Chewbacca are bad-ass.
  • You quote obscure lines of dialogue from movies everybody else has forgotten about.
  • You get anxious if you go longer than three hours offline.
  • You want to get fit, but you don't want to give up your geek.
  • You will never go to a gym ... EVER!
  • You don't like interacting with non-geeks ('normals') ... Eeeeew!
  • You are looking for a bad-ass fitness lifestyle that balances and incorporates your natural geekiness.
  • You occasionally have bizarre erotic dreams of Chewbacca in lingerie!

Preliminaries

We hope you enjoy our podcasts! But before you dive right in, you really should download and read some of our (free) Gruntman & Geek comics! If you still want to listen to us after reading them, then you can be pretty sure you'll digg our podcasts ;)

The Meat & Gravy

Yes we have an agenda! And it is  bad-ass ...

  • Steal 'fitness' back from the athletes.
  • Hack, mod and pimp fitness so it can benefit all of geekdom.
  • Encourage all geeks to adopt and develop a fitness lifestyle that both reflects and compliments their true inner-geekiness.
  • Build up a network of underground fitness Geeks, that one day may develop into an esoteric cult centered around human sacrifice, Mr T worship and bizarre sexual rituals with hot geek-chicks. All though, realistically, we recognize the last goal may be unattainable—but we'll give it our best shot!

Underground Strength & Fitness: Keynote 1

Preamble

So, I'm putting together a short course for Adult Education about training 'underground style'. Here's the first keynote that goes along with session one. I thought geeks would also benefit from the content—hence why I posted it here :)

A few things ...

  • I don't think there's anything wrong with training at a regular gym. If it works for you—good. So any humor aimed at regular gym-folk is just that—humor. No need to get offended :)
  • I DON'T like a lot of what's going on in the fitness industry. But I DO have a lot of respect for many strength and fitness professionals. This isn't a contradictory stance—it's a nuanced stance. If you're in the industry selling shit products and services that are expensive and ineffective I THINK YOU NEED TO LEAVE THE INDUSTRY. If, however, you're a professional who's doing everything you can to promote effective health-oriented, strength and fitness products and services, you have my respect.
  • Yes, I recognize that there are many advantages to training at a regular gym, and the examples I give in the clip of underground superiority are simplistic and biased ... nevertheless, I believe the general point to be true, i.e. underground training, for a significant amount of people, is a far better option than training at a commercial gym.
